Step into Your New Life

Welcome to Cordero Counseling!

On our life’s journey, we sometimes encounter overwhelming obstacles in our path. These challenges can evoke feelings of confusion and fear, leaving us feeling immobilized and unsure of which way to turn.

Having someone to listen to your experiences with an open mind and an open heart may help you look at those challenges through a new lens. Having someone with a sensitive, non-judgmental attitude by your side along the way will help you remember that you are becoming a new version of yourself and will help you see your own life with new eyes, fostering increased self-compassion and optimism as you open doors that you have never considered available to you before. With a renewed perspective, you will be free to explore other directions, preferences, and dreams that better match this new, authentic you.

Carl Jung says, “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”

Our Life Journey

On our life journey, sometimes we encounter overwhelming obstacles in our path. These challenges can provoke feelings of confusion and fear, and we may feel frozen, not knowing which way to go. We often instinctively go back to a pattern that served us in the past, but we discover that we have evolved…we are not that person anymore. Instead of helping, this defense mechanism limits the possibilities of conquering this challenge. The result may be a lack of self-confidence, uncertainty, or emotional pain.

I am so glad that you are here!

Life will inevitably present us with challenges, but when we look back, we realize that they were the catalysts we needed to evolve and become a more cohesive, richer human being. Often, these catalysts come disguised as illness, loss, or trauma, and can manifest as anxiety, depression, or stress.

One day, you will probably be grateful for these difficulties. However, today, you may be struggling with relationship issues at home or work, or you may be experiencing fear and confusion over a significant decision that needs to be made. You may have an ambitious goal and no idea how to get from A to B, or you may need a hand with reducing your levels of stress and anxiety. Using various tools and techniques, I will help you redirect your focus and energy, enabling you to find the solutions that will restore the balance you yearn for.

I look forward to celebrating with you as you reach your milestones!

About Maria "Maru" Cordero Robinson, LPC

I am originally from Venezuela and am bilingual (Spanish) and bi-cultural. I am an avid traveler, love dancing, and enjoy hiking in natural settings. I had a successful career in high-tech sales, but my first love has always been psychology and counseling. When my job was terminated, I felt that my world had collapsed; however, after a few months, I realized that it had been the greatest gift anyone could have given me. I had the opportunity to fulfill my dream of becoming a therapist.

I utilize a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and incorporate elements from both sides of the therapeutic spectrum, ranging from neurobiology to mindfulness, which makes my approach highly integrative.

I would love to listen to your story and work with you to put the pieces together that will ultimately help you get back on track and move in the direction of joy, wholeness, and contentment for which we, consciously or unconsciously, are always searching.
